Parents worry about the watchful guidance of officials

German course guidance centers are seeing more students are turning to their parents. Helicopter parent phenomenon, at least in part, because of a higher number of children enrolled in school drop-out in the universities.

Counseling centers are available to students in German universities to advise them on issues such as the structure of studies, analysis, preparing for a career or work-load of the deal. Now, parents visiting the centers, their children are more attached. This is especially the case in the first-year students.

Whether the concerns of parents to choose for their children the right to study the subject, anxiety, making their way over to their range of large cities. Some also asked that their children how to do the tests. However, such behavior is often still an exception. "Most of the students away from home quite quickly," says Patrick Honaker, a spokesman for the University of Cologne.

However, the center's leadership courses at the University of Bielefeld Daniel Wilhelm helicopter parents believe that this phenomenon is on the increase. Wilhelm these features over-stretch, in addition to being overprotective and restrictive. "And they always put the blame on others, such as universities, things do not work out the way they should be with their children," Wilhelm notes.

Wilhelm Bielefeld University conducted a survey among 2,000 students in 2003 revealed that only 3.5% to 3% of them actually had helicopter parents. Over protectiveness and other characteristics of helicopter parents declined with rising age of the students interviewed in the survey emphasized.

Now the number of younger students entering higher education in Germany. Some federal states have introduced shorter secondary education, students graduating from college with a year earlier. This means that they are now under 18 years old to enroll more students. Out of 2,217,604 students in 2010-11, just 761 are minors, and a general out of 3,486 2,698,910 in 2014-15.

Or to students under the age may not have library cards without their parents' consent. Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia, in all matters relating to their studies full legal capacity of minors are present. Other federal states, students are required to obtain a permit under the age of 18 to manage their own affairs in higher education from their parents.

They signed their lease contracts with minors. "But parents and flats and houses in turn, their children are already 20 years old," says Georg German Student Welfare Service, or DSW of Schlanzke adding that this trend is growing

Over-anxiety among parents of factors appears to be greater pressure for a university. "You have to be a very good student, a university must be right, and you cannot afford delays," says Stefan Gesellschaft fur Information, Bating und Therapy eve Hochschule, or Gibbet of a finger. This association was created, information, guidance and therapy services for students in developing career guidance centers to promote and support communication among their employees.

A Daniel Wilhelm student to clear under pressure from parents to their parents that they want to be independent recommends. "Sometimes the best thing is out of place, if possible, in another city," he says.
